Reflections on Good Friday; Why Passover and not Yom Kippur?

Nicholas Knisely has a very interesting post about the meaning of some of the symbols we use for the cross. In particular he discusses the meaning of the pascal lamb and its relationship with Passover. Even more interesting, however, is a posting by Scot McKnight that he quotes at length, which deals with a very interesting question: what can we learn about the meaning of the Cross based on the fact that Christ chose Passover, rather than Yom Kippur (the traditional Jewish day of Atonement) for the cross and resurrection?
