Obama 08/Micah 6:8

This is from Zach at JesusLand, who thinks it is the best campaign bumper sticker he has ever seen.

Micah 6:8 (NIV):
"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

Read it all here.

UPDATE

I have given this some thought and have decided that theis bumper sticker, while funny, is also dangerous. I am pleased to see that Obama is getting support from the faithful--and for the right reasons--but such a direct linkage of faith with a particular politician should be as disturbing when done by the left as it is when done by the right. We should be praying that we are doing God's will--not proudly announcing to the world that a particular political position is what God wants. Theocracy by the left is as dangerous as theocracy by the right.

Theocracy from the left would be dangerous. I don't think it is exactly on the horizon.

I think you're missing the point. The bumper sticker is a classic two-edged sword. Yes, the Lord requires us (his people, the context of the verse makes it clear that this is a corporate responsibility) to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. The bumper sticker is saying that supporting Senator Obama is part of that effort. At the same time, it is a challenge to Senator Obama to live up to that standard. After all, he has made an explicit connection between his faith and his policy positions. If he fails to follow through, he can expect us to hold him accountable.

It's kind of funny, in an ironic way, given the verse's words about walking humbly when you remember all the charges of arrogance (founded or not) that Obama has faced.
